All eyes turned to New York last week when Bangalore girl Jyothsna Chakravarthy took a shy turn at the New York fashion week. The leggy lass, who was the only top Bangalore girl among a host of international names, shares her haute couture fashion week diary with TOI.

The 5′ 9″ Jyothsna first walked down the international runway in Paris in an India-inspired Paris-Bombay Metiers d’Art collection, unveiled by a top-of-the-line fashion house last year.

Like people here, there and (don’t you dare doubt it) everywhere, Bangaloreans celebrated the Boss’s birthday in style on Monday. As Rajinikanth turned 61 years young, the city he once called home took to the streets with over-the-top celebrations.

The day started with the Ambulla Rajinikanth fan club performing Pal Abhishekam (cleansing with milk) on a Rajinikanth poster. “It was a 25 feet Rajinikanth poster,” said Selvakumar, a member. “We used 20 litres of milk for the occasion and distributed 50 kg of food to the needy. We cut a 63kg cake and watched a Rajinikanth film. I don’t remember what film we saw, but I can tell you it was great.”
